Wishful Escape

— Suman Chatterjee

Bring me back the darkness
And a sudden hurricane,
A shock without electricity —
I don’t get that often.

Too much light around
hinders the view,
Everything is in glory,
I’m starving for a new.

So many rich floors
Seem to be forsaken,
Let’s start a silly game,
Let our inner child awaken.

Let me escape from
an excuse to escape,
Miss the chance to stare
at usual things of normal shape.

Let me hang around
people not so sober,
Enjoy the struggle to believe,
It’s not yet over!

Who am I praying to?
Crying for permission?
So old, numb, stupid, scared,
It is my image, an illusion!
